剧情介绍：
1927年4月21日，革命局势急转直下。以蒋介石为首的国民政府发动了震惊全国的“四·一二”反革命政变，对共产党人进行了血腥的围剿和屠杀。举国上下风声鹤唳，十里洋场更是哀鸿遍野。在这起事件中，一个小人物的命运被改变了。他名叫板凳（王宝强饰），自幼便成了孤儿，多年来一直为杂技团齐班主（午马饰）收养。在帮师傅搭救的途中，他遭遇了共产党人和青帮以及国民党特务的枪战。与他一同遭遇枪战的还有师兄常墩子。常的真实身份是共产党员，他正带着女孩红儿去和地下党员唐雪梅（小陶虹饰）街头。常死前将红儿托付给板凳，板凳被迫成为了女孩的父亲。与此同时，国民党方面积极追查重要情报“火种”的下落，攸关革命存亡的时刻渐渐到来……
