剧情介绍：
一个不起眼的小人物，在一次欢喜闹剧中与“一品夫人”郭秀玉巧结姻缘，从此开始了他充满奇遇与波折的一生。偶遇王爷，歪打正着的破获谋反巨案，刘铭传在老婆大人的“栽培下”，逐步奋斗成为世人敬仰的大将军，官至直隶总督，成为台湾历史上第一任巡抚。然而仕途险阻，刘铭传初到台湾，便遭人暗杀。为破疑案，他不惜涉险身入牢笼，在一系列令人哭笑不得的遭遇后终沉冤昭雪。此后，中法战争爆发，刘铭传一役击败法军，赢得台湾人民的爱戴。在台期间，刘铭传与台湾首富林朝栋及其女林月过从甚密，却受到老婆大人的猜疑，引出一连串逗笑的故事。刘铭传在台湾兴办学堂，发展电力，修建铁路，却被台湾道台刘敖视为眼中钉。处处阻挠，多次险遭暗害。最后，朝廷派系倾轧，刘铭传被迫辞职，眼看自己的建设成果尽遭破坏，刘铭传抱憾而死。
